Discover Iceland’s remarkable winter landscapes on a five-day small-group adventure for 1 to 12 travellers. Cross the geothermal Reykjanes Peninsula before exploring the Golden Circle, including Thingvellir National Park, Strokkur Geysir and Gullfoss Waterfall. Relax in the warm waters of the Secret Lagoon, visit the dramatic waterfalls of the South Coast and take a guided hike across Solheimajokull Glacier. As darkness falls, enjoy opportunities to search Iceland’s skies for the Northern Lights before returning to Reykjavik.

Day 01: REYKJAVIK

  • Arrive in Reykjavik, with free time to settle in or independently explore the capital’s boutiques and cosy cafés.

  • Attend the important 06:00 p.m. welcome meeting to meet your local leader and fellow travellers.

  • Insurance and emergency contact details will be collected during the welcome meeting.

  • Highlight: Begin your Iceland adventure in the world’s northernmost capital before exploring the country’s volcanic and glacial landscapes.

  • After the meeting, you may choose to join the group for dinner at your own expense.

  • Accommodation: Hotel.


Day 02: REYKJANES PENINSULA, HAFNARFJORDUR, HVERAGERDI

  • Travel across the Reykjanes Peninsula and stop at the Bridge Between Continents, spanning the fissure between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

  • Visit Gunnuhver Hot Springs to see its geothermal landscape of bubbling mud pools and steam vents.

  • Continue to Hafnarfjordur for a guided visit to a local artists’ community and meet some of the artists working there.

  • Enjoy an included lunch before travelling through the geothermal areas of Krisuvik and Seltun.

  • Visit Strandarkirkja, a historic Lutheran church that has long served as a landmark for seafaring travellers.

  • Highlight: Combine Reykjanes’ geothermal landscapes with a meaningful introduction to Iceland’s local creative community.

  • Accommodation: Hotel | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch | Travel: Approx. 3 hours.


Day 03: HVERAGERDI, GOLDEN CIRCLE

  • Explore Iceland’s celebrated Golden Circle, beginning at Thingvellir National Park and the historic Parliament Plains.

  • See the Silfra Fissure, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are slowly moving apart.

  • Continue to the geothermal area to see Strokkur Geysir, which regularly erupts around 15 to 20 metres into the air.

  • Visit Gullfoss Waterfall, the powerful double waterfall on the Hvita River.

  • Highlight: Relax with an included winter soak in the geothermal waters of the Secret Lagoon in Fludir.

  • Return to your accommodation with an opportunity to head outside and search the skies for the Northern Lights.

  • Accommodation: Hotel | Meals: Breakfast | Travel: Approx. 3 hours.


Day 04: HVERAGERDI, SOUTH COAST

  • Visit Seljalandsfoss Waterfall before continuing to impressive Skogafoss, one of Iceland’s largest waterfalls.

  • Take a short hike to Kvernufoss Waterfall, hidden within a nearby valley surrounded by moss-covered lava cliffs.

  • Highlight: Join an included guided hike across Solheimajokull Glacier, with a safety briefing and all necessary glacier equipment provided.

  • No previous glacier-hiking experience is required, but reasonable fitness and mobility are necessary due to uneven and potentially slippery terrain.

  • Important: Ankle-high footwear is required so the supplied ice crampons can be fitted correctly.

  • Travellers who prefer not to participate in the glacier hike may instead hike towards the glacier tongue.

  • Accommodation: Hotel | Meals: Breakfast, Dinner | Travel: Approx. 3 hours.


Day 05: REYKJAVIK

  • Return to Reykjavik, where your leader will take you on an included walking tour introducing the capital’s history and culture.

  • Highlight: Complete your Iceland journey with a guided exploration of Reykjavik before continuing with your onward arrangements.

  • The organised trip ends after the walking tour at approximately 02:00 p.m.

  • Road and local conditions may affect the expected finishing time.

  • Flights departing Iceland should be booked for after 06:00 p.m.

  • Additional accommodation in Reykjavik can be arranged separately, subject to availability.

  • Meals: Breakfast


IMPORTANT TRIP INFORMATION

  • Group Size: 1 to 12 travellers.

  • Minimum Age: 15 years.

  • Fitness: A reasonable level of fitness is suitable for the trip, although the glacier hike can be physically demanding.

  • Glacier Hike: No previous experience is required; a safety briefing and all necessary glacier equipment are provided.

  • Glacier Footwear: Ankle-high shoes are required so the supplied ice crampons can be fitted correctly.

  • Mobility: Glacier terrain is uneven and potentially slippery and may be challenging for travellers with certain health or mobility concerns.

  • Glacier Alternative: Travellers who opt out may instead hike towards the glacier tongue.

  • Operational Conditions: The order of the South Coast activities may be adjusted when required for safety.

  • Northern Lights: Sightings depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed.

  • Single Supplement: Available for all nights, subject to availability.

  • Accommodation Changes: Similar-standard accommodation may be substituted when preferred properties are unavailable.

  • Early Check-In: Immediate room access cannot always be guaranteed; luggage storage or shared day rooms may be used where available.

  • Transport Conditions: Travel is by private minibus with complimentary Wi-Fi; some journeys include rough, gravelly and winding roads, with early departures possible.

  • Luggage: A small-to-medium wheeled suitcase is recommended, and travellers must be able to handle their own luggage.

  • Day Bag: A daypack is recommended for water, clothing and activity-specific items.

  • Arrival Transfer: Not included as standard; a private transfer can be pre-booked separately, with flight details required at least 14 days before departure.

  • Travel Insurance: Compulsory for international travellers, with at least medical expenses and emergency repatriation cover required; specific waiver provisions apply to travellers residing in the EU, Switzerland or USA.

  • Emergency Funds: Access to an additional USD 500 is recommended for emergencies or unavoidable itinerary changes.

  • Group Leader: The group leader also acts as the driver throughout the Iceland journey.
