Explore Vietnam together on a 12-day family journey for 2 to 16 travellers, travelling through some of the country’s most memorable cultural and natural highlights. Cruise the waterways of the Mekong Delta, make traditional lanterns in UNESCO-listed Hoi An and explore Hue’s imperial heritage by cyclo. In Hanoi, enjoy a hands-on art experience, traditional water puppetry and cultural landmarks before spending a night among the limestone islands of Ha Long Bay. Designed for adults travelling with children, the journey combines family-friendly experiences, local meals, heritage and time to explore at your own pace.

Day 01: HO CHI MINH CITY

  • Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City, where a complimentary airport transfer takes you to your hotel, subject to the stated arrival conditions.

  • Attend the 05:00 p.m. welcome meeting to meet your leader and the other families travelling with you.

  • Highlight: Enjoy an included welcome dinner together and sample your first local Vietnamese flavours.

  • If arriving early, an optional visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels can be arranged separately before the trip begins.

  • Accommodation: Huong Sen Hotel or similar | Meals: Dinner.


Day 02: MEKONG DELTA, BEN TRE, HO CHI MINH CITY

  • Travel south by private minibus to the Mekong Delta and board a private boat to explore its intricate waterways.

  • Disembark at Ben Tre to visit coconut gardens and a local home, where you can sample tropical fruits and coconut jams.

  • Paddle through the waterways aboard traditional sampans, small local rowing boats.

  • Take a tuk-tuk through nearby villages while learning about rural life and local livelihoods.

  • Highlight: Enjoy an included lunch with a local family in the heart of the Mekong Delta.

  • Return by boat to Ben Tre pier before travelling back to Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 03: DA NANG, HOI AN

  • Fly north to Da Nang, then continue by road to UNESCO World Heritage-listed Hoi An.

  • Join your leader for an orientation walk around Hoi An’s beautifully preserved Old Town.

  • See the historic architecture, colourful lantern displays and boats lining the river.

  • Meet a local artisan for an included hands-on lantern-making workshop and create your own lantern to take home.

  • Highlight: Experience one of Vietnam’s best-preserved heritage towns through its architecture and traditional lantern craft.

  • After the workshop, head into town for dinner before returning to the hotel.

  • Accommodation: Golden Pearl Hotel or similar | Meals: Breakfast | Travel: Approx. 3 hours.


Day 04: HOI AN, AN BANG BEACH

  • Head to An Bang Beach, known for its palm-fringed sands and views towards the Cham Islands.

  • Spend time relaxing by the beach and enjoying the coastal surroundings with the family.

  • Highlight: Enjoy an included picnic lunch during your family beach day.

  • The afternoon is free to relax, explore independently or spend more time by the hotel pool.

  • Optional activities include a Thu Bon River boat trip or a countryside bicycle tour.

  • Accommodation: Golden Pearl Hotel or similar | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.


Day 05: HOI AN

  • Enjoy a free day in Hoi An and explore according to your family’s interests.

  • Return to the Old Town to browse its preserved streets, shops, ceramics, paintings and famous tailoring businesses.

  • You may choose an optional family-friendly cooking class that includes a boat ride and farm visit.

  • An optional excursion to My Son Sanctuary is also available.

  • Highlight: Spend the day discovering more of Hoi An’s culture, cuisine and heritage at your own pace.

  • Accommodation: Golden Pearl Hotel or similar | Meals: Breakfast.


Day 06: HAI VAN PASS, HUE

  • Travel north towards Hue, crossing the scenic Hai Van Pass on the way to Vietnam’s former imperial capital.

  • Enjoy some free time before exploring the city aboard an included traditional cyclo.

  • Travel around the citadel area, pass the local fruit and vegetable market and stop at Ho Chi Minh’s house.

  • Highlight: Enjoy an included home-cooked dinner with a local family and experience authentic flavours and local hospitality.

  • Accommodation: Rosaleen Boutique Hotel Hue or similar | Meals: Breakfast, Dinner | Travel: Approx. 4 hours.


Day 07: HUE, HANOI OVERNIGHT TRAIN

  • Explore Hue’s Imperial Citadel, one of the best-preserved remnants of the city’s former royal centre.

  • Walk among the fortified complex and foliage-covered historic ruins.

  • Visit the Forbidden Purple City, much of which was destroyed during the 1968 Tet Offensive.

  • Highlight: Gain an insight into Vietnam’s imperial past and the impact of the country’s more recent history.

  • In the evening, board the overnight sleeper train bound for Hanoi.

  • The overnight train journey takes approximately 13 hours, with bedding supplied onboard.

  • Accommodation: Overnight sleeper train | Meals: Breakfast.


Day 08: HANOI

  • Arrive in Hanoi early in the morning, with a day room provided so the family can freshen up after the overnight train.

  • Visit Vun Art, a local social enterprise providing vocational training and employment opportunities for people living with disabilities.

  • Learn about the organisation’s work and join an included hands-on art activity to create your own artwork.

  • In the evening, experience an included traditional water puppet performance, one of Vietnam’s longstanding performing arts.

  • Highlight: Combine a meaningful community visit with one of Hanoi’s most distinctive cultural traditions.

  • Accommodation: Foreign Relations Hotel or similar.


Day 09: HANOI

  • Visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology to learn about the country’s diverse ethnic communities and cultural heritage.

  • Continue to the historic Temple of Literature, one of Hanoi’s significant cultural landmarks.

  • Highlight: Enjoy an included lunch at KOTO, a social enterprise supporting disadvantaged young people through hospitality training.

  • Spend the remainder of the day experiencing more of Hanoi.

  • Accommodation: Foreign Relations Hotel or similar | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.


Day 10: HA LONG BAY

  • Travel by minibus to UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ha Long Bay.

  • Board a private boat and cruise among approximately 2,000 dramatic limestone islands rising from the Bac Bo Gulf.

  • Explore caves featuring impressive stalactites and stalagmites, with an opportunity to swim when conditions allow.

  • Highlight: Spend a peaceful night aboard the boat surrounded by Ha Long Bay’s limestone landscape.

  • Enjoy included lunch and dinner onboard.

  • Accommodation: Overnight Junk Boat | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.


Day 11: HA LONG BAY, HANOI

  • Enjoy breakfast onboard, with an optional early-morning kayaking experience available at additional cost.

  • See Ha Long Bay’s limestone karsts and calm waters from a different perspective before returning to Hanoi by bus.

  • Check into your hotel and enjoy some free time to relax or explore independently.

  • Highlight: Gather with the group for an included final dinner celebrating your family journey through Vietnam.

Day 12: HANOI

  • Enjoy breakfast before the organised journey comes to an end, with no further scheduled activities.

  • Additional accommodation can be arranged separately if you would like more time to explore Hanoi’s Old Quarter.

  • Highlight: Extend your stay independently to experience more of Vietnam’s capital.

  • Meals: Breakfast.


IMPORTANT TRIP INFORMATION

  • Group Size: 2 to 16 travellers.

  • Minimum Age: 5 years old.

  • Family Requirement: Bookings must include at least one child under 18 years old.

  • Child Discount: Travellers aged 17 years and under are eligible for a 20% discount from 1 January 2026.

  • Children & Supervision: Children must remain accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the trip; the group leader does not provide babysitting or childcare.

  • Family of Two: Family groups of two are accommodated in a twin room.

  • Family of Three: Triple rooms are provided wherever possible but may consist of a twin room with a rollaway bed or floor mattress; where unavailable, one family member may need a separate single room.

  • Family of Four or More: Families will most likely use two twin rooms, with quadruple rooms provided where possible.

  • Adjoining Rooms: Families are accommodated close together where possible, but adjoining or immediately adjacent rooms cannot be guaranteed.

  • Single Supplement: The hotel single supplement excludes the Day 07 overnight train and Day 10 overnight boat; a separate sleeper-train single supplement may be requested, subject to availability.

  • Overnight Train: The Hue to Hanoi journey is approximately 13 hours; bedding is supplied, and train compartments accommodate four people.

  • Temple Dress: Shoulders and knees should be covered when visiting religious sites.

  • Arrival Transfer: Complimentary for Day 01 arrivals or eligible pre-tour accommodation; flight details must be supplied at least 14 days before travel.

  • Passport Details: Full names must exactly match passports for train and flight ticketing; amendments within 45 days of departure may incur fees or require new tickets.

  • Internal Flight: The itinerary includes a scheduled flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang; no specific baggage allowance is stated on the current trip information.

  • Luggage: A small-to-medium wheeled suitcase is recommended. Pack lightly, as travellers need to handle their own luggage and large suitcases may be difficult to store on the overnight train.
